Monday 30th Nov. the BBC post an article with the headline " The World Health Organization changes HIV 'drug advice' ". The WHO is asking that anti-retroviral drugs be given sooner and to breastfeeding mothers.
The World Health Organization (WHO) wants adults and adolescents to receive anti-retroviral therapy (ART) before their immune system strength falls below 350 cells per cubic millimetre of blood, regardless of whether they show symptoms. And for the first time, the WHO is calling for breastfeeding mothers, or their babies, to be given the drugs to prevent transmission of the disease.
